This is bit late, but oh well!
Over the Easter, the bf and I drove up to Kalbarri, where my parents have retired to. It was the first time to the Barri (as it is now known) for both of us, so we were looking forward to it. Can I just say, I fully heart Kalbarri! I had an amazing time. We explored the area a bit, I went crayfishing with my dad and his neighbour, we went to the Hutt River Province (a small area that has seceded from the rest of Australia, ate mass amounts of crayfish and just generally relaxed. It was fantastic, and it was also awesome to hang out with my parents for a bit. It was really good to see them so relaxed and happy, and stress-free as a result of retirement.

Some of the pics have my face blurred out because I am either pulling a weird face (by accident) or ... I just look silly! Haha. The boy's face is blurred as he doesn't yet know that I even have a blog, so I don't think I should be plastering his face all over the internet.

Black vacuums in the sky.
Hey all.
I was reading the skylark and son blog recently, and a post (from aaaages ago) mentioned how sometimes it feels like the sky is full of black holes, sucking all the good out of the universe [sidebar - if you haven't already, check this blog out! She is really funny and puts together amazing outfits, using mainly on sale or op-shop pieces. Plus, her little boy is so freaking cute it's insane!]. Well, that pretty much explains how I felt last week, despite it being my birthday. My dad had a boating accident and was in hospital for a few days. It was pretty serious for a while, but now he has pretty much been given the 'all-clear'. For me, this stressful and intense situation was made worse because I didn't pick up the phone. It was the day before my birthday, and i was at the library studying as my parents were going to be in town that weekend and I had two assignments due this week, so I was trying to put a big dent in them. My mum called me several times, and I didn't pick up until about 6pm that night. I then found out about the accident, which occurred almost twelve hours earlier. I felt so, so bad. All I could think of was, 'what if it had been worse than it was? What if my dad ... :(' and the fact that my mum was trying to cope with this all by herself (she had her neighbour with her but no family). I felt like a terrible person and a terrible daughter. So, my advice to any out there is, ALWAYS PICK UP YOUR PHONE. Even if your busy, even if you don't feel like talking, always pick it up. You can always ask whoever it is to call back later. You never know what that phone call may be about.
Sorry for the slightly depressing post, but be prepared for some lighter ones soon! I have a small backlog of posts that due to numerous reasons still have to be put together properly, but will do so now!

Booty-licious
Apologies for the extremely un-imaginative title!
I have been wanting to get some low ankle boots for winter for some time now, and have found the pair that I want.
Pros:
- cheap-ish
- buckle detail
- nice heel
Cons:
- not yet sure if they will fit (the smallest size is a 6, and I'm usually a 5 or a 6, mostly a 5)
- am undecided which colour to get!
Sienna Ankle Boots from Dotti
What do you think, black or tan???

Bad Service
Wow. Just, wow. I just encountered a prime example of someone on a power trip giving bad service. The experience was so unpleasant that I was left feeling shaky, my heart was racing and I was on the verge of tears.
Let me explain. There is a nice restaurant near my uni which usually serves fantastic food. It's really really good, I love eating there. However, the owner or manager or whoever has a reputation for being quite rude at times. I'm nit sure whether it's just to uni students as he prefers a different clientele or what, but he can make an otherwise nice night a little bit less nice. I hadn't encountered him in a while (possibly because I have been in a habit of just getting takeaway from there) but tonight my boyfriend, his sister and I decided to dine in. The food was fantastic, our waitress was lovely and everything was perfect until it came time to pay. There were two people in front of me and it was taking a little while. The manager or whoever he is was chatting away to guy 1, who finally finished, the man in front of me paid in cash and then it was my turn. I took out my debit card to hand it over and I was told that the bank line was down. I asked if that meant o couldn't pay by Visa either, as guy 1 had stopes his Visa card on the floor so I just wanted to make sure. The manager looked at me like I was an idiot (in hindsight, yes it was a slightly silly question but I just wanted to make sure and repeated that the bank line was down. I then asked where the nearest ATM was and pointed up the road. After walking to get the money from the ATM (which was on the opposite aide of the road to the restaurant which the manager failed to mention) I return to pay. After getting my change, I said something along the lines of in the future it would be nice if they had mentioned the issue during the meal or while I had been waiting in line for about 10 mins. They manager replies (without apologising) that the issue occurred just as guy 1 was paying. I say that that's fine, but he could have mentioned something then so that I could have withdrawn money instead of waiting in line, as we were in a slight hurry. The guy glares at me, saying that he was sorry but the fault only just happened and that they were trying to resolve it. I say again that that's fine, I just would have appreciated knowing instead of waiting for so long. He then talks over and raising his voice saying that the problem was out of his hands and that it was the machine. Now i started to get defensive and reply and that while the problem was out of his hands, that informing me was not and that he could have done something about it. By this stage I just wanted to leave, so I say that's fine (or something along those lines) and start to walk away. He (while not even looking at me) says thank you and reply, thanking him for the great service.
Arghhhhh I feel so sick and horrible after that encounter! Normally I wouldn't have said anything, but I'm trying to be a bit more confident and proactive, and I knew that if I didn't say anything I would have regretted it. But now I regret saying something! I told my boyfriend that we are never eating there again, which wouldn't be so hard if the food wasn't so good and the fact that our new apartment is about 5 mins walk away!
I absolutely hate when a nice experience is spoiled by something so small and nasty. I really do :(

Strolling in Subi
Last Tuesday evening I met up with my friend L for coffee in Subiaco. Well, I don’t drink coffee, but you get the picture. We ended up going to Dome as everywhere else was closed except for Gelare, and it was packed with people getting half price waffles (mmmmmm, waffles. Soo good!). I had a green tea and a chocolate hedgehog, while L had a cappuchino and a chocolate caramel slice.
I wore:
*Cotton On sheer leopard print top
*Black Ksubi cutoffs from DJ
*Shoes from Rubi
*Rosary necklace from Lovisa
*My mum’s old clutch from the eighties
***Please excuse my messy room and the fact that I am standing on my bed!!***
I always try to get quite dressed up whenever I meet up with L, who is definitely one of my most stylish friends! It was so warm though, that I didn’t want to go too overboard. I was quite pleased with my result! ☺

Review: Aspirin Face Mask
The other night I decided to try out an aspirin face mask that I saw on Vogue Forums. It involves crushing up several aspirin (I used Aspro Clear), adding a small amount of liquid (I used water) and smearing the fizzy mixture on your face. I left mine on for about 10-15 minutes, then washed off with warm water.
***I also had an olive oil hair mask, hence the towel and glad wrap!***
I have done this mask twice now, and I definitely recommend crushing up the tablets first! The first time I did it, I only broke them up a little and they were still quite bitty (if that makes sense!!) on my face, as you can see from the pic. Even when I crushed them with a small hammer, the mixture was still quite grainy, which acted as a manual or physical exfoliant, which I quite liked.
After I washed the mask off, my face was seriously so smooth and nice, it felt AMAZING. I have combination oily/dry skin that can get quite rough with dead skin build up in a don’t exfoliate regularly. I had run out of exfoliator so hadn’t done this for quite a long time (I kept forgetting to buy some whenever I went to the shops :s) but the aspirin sloughed all the rough stuff away.
Pros:
*Got rid of dead skin, leaving my skin so smooth and silky
*Fizzing feeling after application and when washing the mask off
*The mask feeling as it dried – it seriously felt like a I have paper mache mask on something!! It left like I had always imagined a face mask to feel. Very cool.
*Left my oily skin feeling non-oily, and the dry bits weren’t exacerbated
Cons:
*Weird smell
*Slight sugary, sticky feeling during application, though this was mainly on my fingers
*I absolutely hate the taste of Aspro Clear and I accidentally got some of the mask on my lips – I felt like I was possibly about to throw up
*No real noticeable change in my skin clarity, although could be due to my shitty diet and poor effort at drinking water.
I definitely recommend trying out the aspirin face mask, even if purely for the novelty factor or the fizzing feeling. ☺

Hello Hello.
I realise I have yet again been neglecting this attempted blog. I am up in my hometown, working like crazy so that I can afford to eat during semester. It's really nice seeing my parents and old friends again, but I am starting to really look forward to going back down to Perth. Just under two weeks left!
A few weeks, myself and other work colleagues got to go on a scenic flight in a light plane. Seriously - so much fun! Plus I was able to see my little town and its surrounds in all its glory. Yay for Karratha!
xx
