Feeling Like A Vegas Showgirl

Well, S and I are back up in our hometown. I am starting a new job in just over a week but up until then, my days are filled with nothing. My car is currently out of commission - it was rear ended a while back, and I have been seriously lazy in getting fixed. Fingers crossed it is ready by the time I start work! The town has no public transport so I am effectively confined to the house. At the moment my daily routine is as follows:

- Wake up at about 5.30 when S' alarm goes off
- Go back to sleep
- Get out of bed at about 7.30 when my alarm goes off
- Drink three glasses of water and have a banana
- Do a body workout and then go for an interval run
- Have a shower
- Eat breakfast
- Go on the computer/read/watch TV
- Have lunch
- Go on the computer/read/watch TV
- Wait for S to come home at 5.30
- Either go to boxercise or go for an endurance run
- Shower
- Have dinner
- Go on the computer/read/watch TV
- Go to bed

Every. Single. Day. Except for weekends. I am going a tad stir crazy!

Anyway, I caught up with some friends for lunch shortly after we arrived (before S started work). I wore this:

H&M sequinned top, Zara waxed denim black shorts (not seen)

I hate to admit, I absolutely LOVE sequins. I know that some people can find them tacky - especially during the day - but I am most assuredly not one of them! I grew up dancing and now sequins always calls to mind the glamour and excitement of dance concerts, costumes and competitions. I figure it is fine to wear them during the day, as long as I dont go TOO overboard :) What do you think?

Ole!

Ola! S and I are currently relaxing in Madrid, trying to soak up the sun and warm(ish) weather. I have to admit, this has been my least loved leg of the trip so far. I am definitely regretting not spending more days in Paris instead, or longer in Portugal - the weather was BEAUTIFUL. On Monday we head to Morocco and I am deliriously excited. S keeps trying to bring me down to earth with bad expectations so that I don't get disappointed, but I am not sure how well it is working. A few quicks snaps from one of our wanderings in Madrid the other day.

Père-Lachaise

Hello my lovelies! My European adventure continues. S and I have just spent the last 5 days in Paris and in all honesty, it was truly magical. I love Paris. The City of Lights has captured both our hearts and our imaginations and I believe that It will never let go. The only downer was that out hostel had no internet, which made it a tad heart to update the blogs, research sights and attractions and plan ahead, but we managed. We are now in Bordeaux (and thankfully have internet - yay!) and loving being to just relax a little. I have also told S about my blog, and he has become my official photographer! It was not as embarrassing as I thought it would be, thank goodness. As I thought it was going to be SUPER embarrassing. One morning we decided to head down to the cimetière du Père-Lachaise, a beautiful old cemetery filled with famous graves. Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Heloise and Abelard, Edith Piaf and Balzac are just a few of those interred here. A word of warning: if you plan on visiting the cemetery, set aside a LOT of time. The cemetery is huge and made for simply wandering :)

Past Pictures II

Some more pictures from a little while ago. These were taken in Perth, I think the outfit was for a group meeting maybe? Or a tutorial? Something uni related anyway ...

I have already started to get complacent in my Pilbara style, and correspondingly in my blogging as well ... I am considering setting myself a challenge: to try and take a photo a day - mostly but not limited to outfit photos. We shall see how that goes!

In other news, I found out my results today - I have definitely passed everything! Woop woop! It is such a relief - I was starting to stress out a little. Now all I have to do is find a job for next year :S

Baby I've got you on my mind ...

Wishlist

These are some of the items i am currently craving. Don't really care about the brandnames, it's more of a template wishlist. If that makes sense. It is my first attempt using polyvore, not quite sure how I feel about it yet.

I have one more exam on Tuesday, then I am done forever! Can't wait. On a less happy note, however, it means that soon I will have to start thinking about the rest of my life, which kinda makes me want to vomit in anxiety. I am definitely starting to stress out about next year, namely finding a job. Preferably a marketing job, in a fun and/or creative industry with good pay and the possibility of some kind of career path. That's not to much to ask for, is it?

... is it? :(

Trooooolls!

How good was Harry Potter last night? Haha. I have been annoying the boy by repeating the same quote over and over. (and over and over ... etc)

Today, I avoided study by heading to the movies with the aforementioned boy and a friend from up north. We watched X-Men: First Class. It is was ok, defs not as good as the first one, but ok. "Helt okej" as one would say in Swedish**

I wore:

Cotton On jumper, Supre shirt, Ksubi shorts, Ambra tights, Kmart tights, Zu shoes

Please the excuse ridiculous last pose, I was trying some 'creative' ways of trying to bring my shoes into the shot, haha :)

And before I forget, hello to the new people following me! I can't believe I have hit TEN! It is super awesome

**Since we are going on an massive overseas trip later this year, I am trying to me my rusty Swedish ... less rusty.

Blah blah blah

Quick outfit post.

Cotton On Singlet, Cotton On sheer leopard print blouse, Pigeonhole necklace, Bettina Liano jeans, Zomp boots, Diva headband

I look slightly idiotic in these pics, my apologies! Still trying to work out the best poses and locales, etc. Also how to use my new camera! :)

Me talking about fashion stuff ...

I was going through Fashion Gone Rouge the other day and stumbled upon these photos:

Credit: Sheila Marquez by David Roemer for Marie Claire Spain June 2011. For the rest of the shoot click here

Credit: Flavia de Oliveira by Marcelo Krasilcic for Elle Italia June 2011. For the rest of the shoot click here

Looking at these photos make me long for summer again ... For some unknown reason, I didn't go to the beach AT ALL this past summer and I am really regretting right now. Actually, I do know the reason why - working approx 10 hours a day, 13 days a week doesn't leave much time for beach-going!

David Roemer's photos are gorgeous. I love love LOVE a black swimsuit ... They are classic, timeless and forgiving. I think that Roemer's photos encapsulate the elegance and sexiness of a black swimsuit perfectly. The simplicity of the shots is stunning. The minimalism of the the hair and makeup, lack of accessories and simple background provide a cleanness, of which the swimsuits are the focal point. If this was Masterchef, they would be the 'hero' of the shoot!

Marcelo Krasilcic's photos, on the other hand, are a study in contrasts. While the basic elements remain the same - swimwear and a beach location - they have an entirely different feel. The hair and makeup, colourful accessories and clothing and the use of props create a photo story that just screams holiday. I love these photos for a totally different reason, they speak to me in another way. I also love the fact that of all these photos from Krasilcic have a common black or dark thread that seems to almost 'ground' the colour of the shots, giving them depth.

This is my first attempt and a sort of fashion journalism I guess. I hope it was to pretentious! :)

Culminating Amalgamations

Ok, wow. Wowee. It has been MONTHS since I last updated this thing. I have just been so crazy busy lately. I am doing a full load at uni (which at UWA is four units, compared to the three at certain unis, grrrrr), going in to my internship 2-3 days a week, I was sick, trying to stay in contact with my friends who I barely see anymore (:[ ) and my parents have come down quite a few times, which has been nice. Plus, to tell the truth, I had gotten a tad bit disheartened/disillusioned with this here blog. AND THEN I realised that I hadn't activated something properly, so I wasn't notified when I got blog comments. Yay me! I only just realised when I linked my blog in my Vogue Forum signature and tested the link to make sure it worked.

OH by the way, total update: I totally got a distinction for that essay that was frustrating the f*ck out of me, all that time ago. Booyah! I am so glad that my tutor is a nice marker!!

Anyway, next week is the event that is the culmination of internship this semester: Lomovember. If anyone reading this is in Perth, you should definitely come along. Imagine if lomography (retro-style photography) did the kinky with Movember. The beautiful, soft-focused and moustache-d baby would be the awesomeness that is Lomovember. Ok, maybe I am ever so slightly talking it up, as I helped make it happen, but seriously, it should be good. It is a weekend-long lomographic photo exhibition at 104b Murray Streeet, where the photos are all sold via a silent auction. Opening night is Friday 19th, tickets are $5 and include drinks and cupcakes and live music. Plus, there will be lomography workshops held over the weekend. For more details, go here.

I was looking through cotton socks's blog, and came across a photo of her bf wearing some very cool Topman jeans. My boyf has been on the lookout for some good jeans for AGES now, and I am thinking I may get them for him for an early Christmas present. We are heading to Melbourne for a week and a half in the beginning of December, and I think he would really like them. What do you think (if there is anyone out there reading this! Haha)?
